| FEAR NOT |

You've tried to move your mind off of what makes you anxious, but the power of your worry seems to move you right back into the anxiety. Racing thoughts, sleepless nights, and feeling like you want to jump out of your skin are all common experiences to those who suffer from the crippling effects of anxiety.
Picture
You are not alone: Some 40 million adult Americans suffer from anxiety. Almost 2 out of 10 adults in the U.S. are affected with a level of anxiety that impacts their life in significant ways. KCM's Christ-centered, Scripturally-rooted approach is specifically geared to bring you healing and transformation. EMPOWER is a closed group counseling program that facilitates the development of new skills to address generalized anxiety, and to live in victory through Christ Jesus. To learn more, we invite you to contact Dr. Joy Wright, Th.D., at 661.324.4070, ext. 303 or email joy@kmcounseling.com.

Characteristics of Generalized Anxiety

  1. Have you experienced excessive anxiety occurring more days than not for at least six months, about a number of events or activities?
  2. Do you find it difficult to control your worry?
  3. Is the anxiety associated with three (or more) of the following items:
  • Persistent worrying or obsession about small or large concerns that are out of proportion to the impact of the event
  • Inability to set aside or let go of a worry
  • Inability to relax, restlessness, and feeling keyed up or on edge
  • Difficulty concentrating, or the feeling that your mind "goes blank"
  • Worrying about excessively worrying
  • Distress about making decisions for fear of making the wrong decision
  • Carrying every option in a situation all the way out to its possible negative conclusion
  • Difficulty handling uncertainty or indecisiveness
   4.  Does the anxiety cause significant distress in social, occupational, or other areas of function?
   5.  Can your anxiety be attributed to the effects of substance abuse or another medical condition (e.g., hyperthyroidism)?
   6.  Could there be a better explanation for the anxiety (e.g., panic disorder, social anxiety, OCD, separation anxiety, etc.)?

If you answered yes to questions 1–4 and no to questions 5 and 6, you may be affected with generalized anxiety. KCM's EMPOWER is ready to provide you with the healing and skills needed to rise above and walk in victory with Christ Jesus.
