Bold Love guides participants through the healing process, and effectively addresses the distorted cognitive thinking that often results from sexual abuse. Through our program, you can do more than live life as a survivor, you can learn to live as an over-comer in Christ Jesus.
Points to consider:
1. Half of those who receive treatment for sexual abuse also suffer from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Because of the complexity involved with PTSD, counseling is recommended to assist the survivor in healing.
2. Repression is really an act of avoidance—God never intended for us to live a repressed life (see Ephesians 4:26).
3. Secretes stifle our growth in Christ—that’s why God’s word tells us not to take part in them (see Ephesians 5:11).
4. We are not called to bear life’s burdens all on our own. When it comes to the issue of sexual abuse, we need others to help us carry the load as we work through the issue (see Galatians 6:2).
5. Sin pollutes our life in many ways. In regards to sexual abuse, it is the perpetrator’s sin that infects the victim. However, there is a way to overcome by learning to stand firm and no longer submit to the enemy’s yoke of slavery (see Galatians 5:1). But in order to do so, survivors must first work through the unresolved pain and anguish of their abuse. It is through this process of healing that the Holy Spirit transforms their mind.
